LIFTING WORSHIP TO KINGDOM HEIGHTS
(CLICK HERE IF YOU WISH TO ORDER WORSHIP SONGS IN HAITIAN CREOLE)
One of the major ministries of HaitiRevival is to transform worship throughout Haiti. Jim Glynn has translated over 350 well-known contemporary worship songs into Haitian Creole. He continues to translate songs on an ongoing basis. He records to CDs and has compiled a songbook, available for purchase through this website.
Haitian churches worship with a songbook of hymns and choruses compiled many years ago and used by all denominations. We are the only ministry actively translating and recording praise and worship music. Pastor Jim’s recordings are regularly aired on the major Christian radio stations throughout Haiti.
As is true in many US churches, Haitian congregations tend to worship in a way we could call performance-driven. Worship leaders shouting into microphones, an emphasis on physical manifestations more than spiritual connections, repetition and militant obedience to the orders of the leader. It can seem earnest and lively, yet seldom yields deep connection with the Throne of God.
Wherever we have opportunity to lead or teach worship, we demonstrate what Jesus said, “...true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).
Before congregations, worship leaders, pastors, and musicians we bring liberty in the Spirit to worship, showing how to lead worshipers “to the Throne of God” instead of simply performing music on earth. True worship may involve shouting and body movements, but it will also be marked by the holy connection of each individual worshiper with the Kingdom of God, with a corresponding response from heaven.
We also challenge Haitians to reclaim native instruments and music styles which are used in voodoo worship. We know that God is the creator and Lord of bamboo flutes, wooden and metal rhythm instruments, and various kinds of drums, and music is his creation. We know that Satan is a robber and imitator who has no rights to any musical style or instrument. So we pray and encourage Christian musicians to take back all that Satan has stolen in order to create true “Haitian” praise and worship music.
If you are a worship leader, teacher, singer, musician....or master of sound equipment, projection, computer worship programs, we welcome and invite you to join our work lifting worship from earth to heaven in Haiti.
